![]() I feel like GoT did a good job at cutting the fat when it came to only keeping the important gameplay mechanics. You had to eat, sleep, clean your weapon, and pay for your own bounty. I can’t tell you how annoyed I’d get to have to run ALL the way back to my horse in RDR2 because I decided to explore on foot for a little bit, or I get in a gun fight and it takes off without me.Īlso I enjoyed the healing factor in GoT so much better, RDR2 was a terrific game but sometimes I found it to be too tedious. Sure it kinda destroys the immersion, but it was just a mechanic that made playing the game more fun and relaxing. This is why GoT is superior in my eyes.Īll I’m saying is that it was genius of who ever thought to allow you to call your horse at any time, anywhere on the map in GoT. GoT isn't perfect, there are those linear segments, but a good portion of the time the game lets go of your hand tells you to go about the situation in which ever way you want. If only the time they put into features such as decomposing bodies, was put into gameplay mechanics, an actually solid and deeper stealth system, and more open mission design, then Rdr2 would be worth the praise in my eyes. It doesn't really change the way i play, and i need to go out of my way to see it happen. Instead, you get a crow picking out someone's eye. Imagine if you could conceil yourself somehow, escpae and re-engage from another angle. Not as in the game is too hard, but as in you can't mgsv this game. If you're surrounded with 0 cover, you're fucked. The game always wants you to fight head on as well, behind cover with the enemy infront of you. So you have a lot of gameplay scenarios that play out the same, not all, but after a while you notice how your only choice to confront and shoot every one in the face. Unlike Max Payne 3, it isn't a world designed to accomodate the gameplay, or at least that isn't the priority. Its open world, while necessary, hurts the gameplay. Nothing bad with that, but from a gameplay pov, it's mediocre. Rdr2 is a great story and amazing open world. He's sloppy and the gameplay reflects that while being great. Like you're a hammered version of John Wick. ![]() This imperfection leads to moments of you stumbling, now youre on the floor and have to head shot 3 people in the face. While some argue the physics get in the way, because the game is designed so that max's physical position effects where he shoots, I'd argue they're wrong. A great game to replay, as the mechanics are sound, and rewarding to master. This is because it's very linear, which means they could solely focus on great set pieces for 3rd person action. My opinion but i feel that it is Rockstar's best game. Which is kinda funny to me, because despite how impressive their games are, at the end of the day it's just smoke and mirrors.īesides Max Payne 3. They can make a impressive and believable world, but they are atrrocious at creating believable and emmergent gameplay. That may have been fine for me years ago, but i've played too many games, and know what i like, why i like it, and can make a pretty damn good argument as to why the games i like are superior and more impressive than anything rockstar can put out. In a lot of ways it shows a glaring issue with rockstars game design. Dead bodies decompose!!! On the other hand, dead bodies decompose? Yet when playing a mission, if i deviate the slightest bit from the way rockstar intended me to play, it's mission fail. I like rdr2, but i'm a fan of immersive sims.
